Eagle Radio Miller Lite Community Calendar
Public Service Announcement Criteria
After you have read the criteria, use the link at the bottom of the page to submit your event.
WCUP and WGLI are happy to air community announcements free of charge, based on the following criteria:
- The event must be sponsored by a non-profit, non-political community service organization, for the exclusive benefit of that organization, or another non-profit, non-political community service organization or project.
- All submissions must include:
- The name of the sponsoring organization
- The date of the event, and any other critical dates (such as a registration deadline)
- Essential details about the event (time, place, cost, etc.)
- An official contact person from whom more information can be obtained
- A phone number, website or email address the public can use to obtain more information
- Events sponsored by ad hoc groups may be included at the discretion of WCUP/WGLI, so long as they benefit a non-profit, non-political community service organization or project.
- Events must be of interest to, and open to, the public; or, at least, a portion of our audience too large for the sponsoring organization to contact individually.
- All free community announcements are broadcast and/or published at the complete and total discretion of WCUP/WGLI.
- WCUP/WGLI will determine the number of free community announcements to be broadcast, at its sole discretion. Announcements may be added to, or deleted from, the daily program schedule without notice.
- WCUP/WGLI reserves the right to edit all content to meet broadcast or website requirements.
- WCUP/WGLI makes no guarantee as to the number of times a public service announcement will be aired, if at all; or how many days it will appear on a website, if at all.
- The FCC prohibits us from including information regarding raffles, including the offering of door prizes for which a ticket must be purchased or other investment made to qualify.
- Events sponsored by WCUP/WGLI and/or its sponsors and advertisers may also be included as community calendar announcements or website postings, at the complete and total discretion of WCUP/WGLI.
- Because of FCC and other political advertising and broadcasting regulations, political announcements are specifically prohibited. Such announcements include, but are not limited to:
- Announcements by, for, on behalf of, or in opposition to, candidates running for political office, either as officially registered candidates, write-in candidates, or “exploratory” candidates.
- Announcements by, for, or on behalf of, persons or groups supporting or opposing ballot issues, either in the petition or election stages.
- Announcements by, for, on behalf of, or in opposition to, candidates running for political office, either as officially registered candidates, write-in candidates, or “exploratory” candidates, which, although they may not refer specifically to the election in question, are designed to advance the name recognition, public profile, or financial standing of the candidate.
- Announcements by, for, or on behalf of groups or organizations that exist substantively to promote political candidates or specific ballot issues. Exceptions may be made for generic announcements which include no mention of the organization’s political goals.
- Political rallies for specific candidates, slates of candidates, ballot issues, or political parties.
- “Meet the Candidate” forums, unless the organization sponsoring the forum is politically neutral, and can demonstrate it has made a vigorous, good faith effort to include all qualified candidates for the offices being discussed.
- “Educational” meetings regarding ballot proposals, unless the organization sponsoring the meeting is politically neutral, and can demonstrate it has made a vigorous, good faith effort to include qualified representative from all sides of the issue(s) to be discussed.
- WCUP/WGLI reserves the right to grant exceptions to this policy. Such exceptions are granted at the sole discretion of WCUP/WGLI, and are not to be viewed as precedents in favor of similar announcements which may subsequently be submitted.
- Persons or organizations with questions about our community announcement policy may contact WCUP/WGLI management for further information or clarification.
